Accessibility Statement
DEKRA Canada Inc. is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA are internationally recognized standards that define how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. This accessibility statement applies to www.dekra.ca.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, due to the non-compliance(s) and the exemptions listed below.
Non-Accessible Content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):
1. Non-Compliance With the Mentioned Regulations
Tab Navigation and Focus State
Currently, we are undergoing a technical update for the components on our website, and the aspects of tab navigation and focus state will be properly addressed in the new version. Thus, we are prioritizing the integration of these functionalities in the upcoming update, which will ensure full compliance with WCAG 2.1 and provide a more efficient solution in the long term.

Form Fields Missing Labels
Some form fields on our website may be missing proper labels, which can make it difficult for users relying on screen readers to understand the purpose of each input field. While placeholder text or visual cues may be present, these may unfortunately not a reliable substitute for accessible labels. We are reviewing and updating our forms to ensure all fields have clear, programmatically associated labels for improved accessibility.

Videos
Some videos on the website may not be fully compliant with WCAG 2.1, as most of them are linked to YouTube, where video captions can be activated. However, the automatic captions generated by machine learning algorithms can vary in quality. Additionally, captions for videos produced in the past may not have been reviewed for accuracy. To address this, an accessibility guideline for video production has been included in the DEKRA Corporate Design Manual. We are working to ensure that all future videos meet these accessibility standards, with improved captioning and review processes.

Broken links and unreachable pages
Sometimes, broken links and unreachable pages may occur. We are ambitioned to address those issues in a timely manner (see above).

Image alternative text
We may not be fully WCAG compliant regarding alt text due to the vast majority of visual items on our website making it difficult to ensure consistent, meaningful alt text for all images. Yet, we have guidelines in place requiring alt text for non-decorative images and all editors are striving to provide alt text to their best of their ability. Nonetheless, without an automated system to check alt text for compliance, some images may not meet the necessary standards for screen reader users, despite our efforts to improve the process.

Headings Structure
We may struggle to fully comply with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirement for heading structure due to occasional oversight of the logical hierarchy. Given the volume of content and multiple contributors, in some instances maintaining a consistent heading order or to improperly skip levels (e.g., jumping from H1 to H3) cannot be rulled out.

Buttons Missing Text Alternatives
Some buttons on our website may be missing appropriate text alternatives. While visual labels are present, the associated text for assistive technologies may be missing. This can result in non-existing or outdated descriptions, making it difficult for screen reader users to understand the button’s purpose.
